Today was the first day of October and the 19th day of school!
We played a shark game in the gym and ended the class sailing a boat in all 4 directions: North, South, East and West. It was a blast! We also had stormy seas, swabbing the deck, walk the plank and then the Captain came and we had to salute!
We also went to reading groups. We tried making words for words with letters in front of l's. Other people learned how the use the strategy "Stretchy Snake". We learned about yellow and green tickets.
At recess some of us made forts and we enjoyed the snow. We also pretended to be snow leopards in the snow. The snow should be gone by the end of the week and we will miss it.
Ms. Betty told us about the Science Question of the Week.
Here are the details:
Do you have a question about something you would like to find out more about and present to the class? If so, we will be having time put aside each week for something new from the realm of Science.
For this week, Ms. Betty asked the question:
What makes popcorn pop?
Students can bring in their answers on a piece of paper for the discussion at the end of the week. Some may want to bring in drawings or diagrams, depending on the question! Also, if you have suggestions for next week's question, please email them or bring them in on a piece of paper. We are looking for all types of questions, but preferably not ones that can be answered with just a yes, no or a number.
